Hello, World! (That's how you are supposed to start these things, right?)
Logan and I have made it home, safe and sound, from our trip to East Africa. We had many adventures, the highlights of which I'll be sharing here over the next few weeks; made many memories, and, oh yea, bought some really cool stuff. Some of that stuff is for our families, but some of is actually for you guys.
One of the reasons we were able to justify taking an almost 3 week honeymoon half way across the world was the fact that East Africa is home to some of the world's largest and most diverse gemstone mining operations, and certainly a hub of gemstone trading. Both rough and cut goods abound and we were almost as excited about bringing some of it home as we were about the lions. (Ok, Logan was more excited about the rough and I was more excited about the lions- we'll call it an even split.)
Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. We are thrilled to announce that we had a very successful buying trip in the middle of our honeymoon. It's all in the process of being sorted and catalogued, and I'll be writing about our buying experiences, our trip to the Scorpion Mine, and our plans for the new material soon; but here's a small teaser and a sample of the kind of material we were able to get a hold of:
This is unheated tanzanite from Tanzania and we think it's going to be ah-mah-zing when it's cut!
On a different note; we're pretty new to this blog thing. What would you like to see us post about; news from the shop, trends we see in the industry, discussions of the commission process, upcoming sales and events? Drop me a line and I'll do my best!
